Kei Truck Fleet Sales for Farms, Ranches and Businesses

Need more than one small work truck for a farm, ranch, landscaping or property crew, hunting lease, campus, plant or event grounds? You can buy kei trucks (Japanese mini trucks) from us two, three or more at a time. We import more than 300 kei trucks a year directly from Japan to our lot in east Houston, so there is usually a mix of models, drivetrains and body styles on the lot or on the way. This page explains how buying several trucks works: choosing them, reserving the ones still at sea, paying, getting them home and titling each one.

Key facts

  • Supply: more than 300 kei trucks a year, imported directly from Japan. Trucks are listed as In Houston (on our lot now) or Arriving Soon (on the way).
  • Quotes: call or text (713) 385-9798 or email contact@skylinekeitrucks.com with how many trucks you need, the models or body styles you want and where they're going.
  • Reserving: a $1,000 deposit reserves each arriving truck and counts toward its price.
  • Delivery: we help arrange an independent carrier to anywhere in the lower 48, and you pay the carrier directly. You can also collect the trucks from our lot with your own trailers. See delivery to your state.
  • Paperwork: each truck comes with its own set: the Japanese export certificate with translation, our bill of sale, CBP Form 7501, DOT Form HS-7 (Box 1) and EPA Form 3520-1. You title and register each truck yourself.
  • Sold as is: every truck is sold by Wideway Motors LLC as is, with no warranty.

What jobs suit a fleet of kei trucks?

A kei truck sits between a full-size pickup, which is often more truck than the job needs, and a UTV. It is at most about 11 ft 2 in long and 4 ft 10 in wide, with a closed cab, a fold-down-side bed and a 660cc engine, so it fits on narrow trails, between rows, through gates and in tight yards. Typical fleet jobs:

If your trucks will stay on private land, whether they still need a title or registration depends on your state, so ask your motor vehicle agency.

How does buying several trucks work?

The steps are the same as for one truck, done for each truck. They follow our How Buying Works page and Terms of Sale:

  1. Tell us what you need. Call, text or email with the number of trucks, the jobs they'll do, any must-haves (4x4, automatic, dump bed, van body) and where they're going. We'll tell you what is in Houston now and what is arriving.
  2. See them in person. Trucks marked In Houston can be seen and test driven at our lot by appointment.
  3. Reserve the arriving ones. Trucks marked Arriving Soon are still on their way from Japan. A $1,000 deposit marks a truck Reserved and takes it off the market, and the full deposit counts toward that truck's price. The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel and refunded in full if we can't deliver the truck. Arrival dates are estimates.
  4. Pay for each truck. Pay online at checkout, or at the lot with cash or a cashier's check. For a reserved truck, the balance is due within 14 days after we let you know it has arrived, and before it is picked up or shipped.
  5. Get them home. Collect them with trailers or have a carrier pick them up at our lot (next section). Trucks not picked up within 14 days after payment in full may be charged reasonable storage fees.
  6. Title each truck. Take each truck's paperwork to your state's motor vehicle agency.

Buying for a company? The same Terms of Sale apply, and the person buying confirms they are authorized to act for the business.

Which models and body styles suit a fleet?

We import the Daihatsu Hijet, Suzuki Carry, Honda Acty, Subaru Sambar and Mitsubishi Minicab, plus kei dump trucks and kei vans. Match the body style to the job:

Job Body style to look at Browse
Feed, fencing, tools and hay Standard-bed truck, 4x4 for mud, sand and hills All kei trucks
Soil, mulch, gravel and debris Dump truck with a tipping bed Kei dump trucks
Tools and parts that should stay dry and locked Panel van Kei vans
Leases, trails and wet ground 4x4 truck; many have a low range and a differential lock How kei truck 4x4 works
Paved sites with many different drivers Truck or van with an automatic transmission In Houston now

Two practical points for a fleet. Buying the same model and drivetrain for every truck keeps parts and tire sizes the same across the fleet; our parts guide and tire size guide explain how kei parts are numbered. And every kei truck is right-hand drive, and each listing shows whether it is manual or automatic, so choose what your drivers are comfortable with; see driving a right-hand-drive kei truck and our Hijet vs. Carry vs. Acty vs. Sambar comparison.

Can several trucks ship together?

Yes. We help arrange an independent, licensed carrier to pick the trucks up at our lot and deliver them anywhere in the lower 48, and you pay the carrier directly; shipping isn't included in the trucks' prices. moveBuddha, a car-shipping comparison site, says many auto shippers offer multi-car discounts in the 5% to 10% range, so ask each carrier to quote the trucks together. Published per-car estimates from Houston to 25 cities are on our delivery page.

Close by? Many nearby buyers bring a trailer: a kei truck fits a standard car-hauler trailer behind a half-ton pickup. An unregistered kei truck can't be driven on Texas roads, so each one leaves the lot on a trailer or a carrier. Risk of loss passes to you when a truck is picked up or released to your carrier.

Who titles and registers the trucks?

You do. We're an importer, not a licensed dealer, and we don't provide a state title or registration. Each truck is sold with its own import paperwork, and you take that set to your state's motor vehicle agency to title and register it. Titling, registration, inspection and insurance are the buyer's responsibility, and the rules depend on the state:

  • Texas: kei trucks 25 years or older are titled and registered like any other vehicle, at your county tax office. See our Texas title and registration guide and kei truck insurance in Texas.
  • Other states: some states register kei trucks like any truck, some limit them to slower roads, and some won't register them for public roads at all. Check your state on our kei truck laws by state map before you buy; being unable to register a truck is not grounds to cancel a purchase.

Kei odometers read in kilometers, and each truck's chassis number on its export certificate serves as its VIN. Keep each truck's paperwork set together until it is titled.

Frequently asked questions

Do you quote prices for several trucks?

Yes. Call or text (713) 385-9798 or email contact@skylinekeitrucks.com with how many trucks you need, which models or body styles and where they're going, and we'll put together a quote.

Can we reserve trucks that are still on their way from Japan?

Yes. A $1,000 deposit reserves each Arriving Soon truck and counts toward its price. The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel and refunded in full if we can't deliver the truck, and arrival dates are estimates. Our guide to how our trucks get from Japan to Houston explains the timing.

How do we pay?

Online at checkout, or in person at our lot with cash or a cashier's check. Payments are collected by Skyline JDM Inc. Financing your own purchase? See our financing page.

Can the trucks go to another state?

Yes, anywhere in the lower 48 through an independent carrier that you pay directly. Check how your state treats kei trucks first on the laws map; we have guides for buyers in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Arizona, South Carolina and New Mexico.

Is there a warranty on fleet purchases?

No. Every truck, one or ten, is sold by Wideway Motors LLC as is, with no warranty. You're welcome to see and test drive any truck that is in Houston, or have an independent mechanic look at it, before you buy.
