Kei Trucks Near You: Texas Cities and Nearby States

Last updated: October 15, 2026. Shipping prices are the carriers' published estimates for 2026, not quotes. Fees are examples for a $7,999.99 truck. General information, not legal advice.

Every kei truck we sell is on our lot at 6100 Harvey Wilson Dr. in east Houston or on its way there from Japan; we import more than 300 a year. Houston-area buyers pick up in person. Everyone else either comes with a trailer or has us help arrange an independent carrier, then titles the truck at home. The pages below cover what changes by city: the drive or shipping cost from Houston, which county tax office to use, what the title and registration cost, and where to get the VTR-68-A VIN inspection that every imported truck needs in Texas. The state pages cover each neighboring state's law, paperwork and taxes.

Not listed? Texas law is the same statewide: a kei truck 25 years or older can be titled and registered as a miniature vehicle in any county (see are kei trucks legal in Texas? and the Texas title guide); only the local fees, the office and the inspection site change. Use TxDMV's office finder for your county and ask your sheriff's office or police auto theft unit about VTR-68-A inspections. The title fee is $33 in emissions counties and the state's “affected counties” and $28 everywhere else; local fees run $9 to $21.50 (TxDMV 2026 fee chart).

Buying from another state? Every state sets its own rules for imported mini trucks, and some don't allow them on public roads. Check with your state's motor vehicle agency before you buy. We can help arrange shipping anywhere in the mainland United States through independent carriers, paid directly to the carrier (Shipping & Pickup Policy).

How buying from a distance works

  1. Pick a truck. Listings marked In Houston are on the lot and can be inspected and test driven by you or someone you send; listings marked In Transit are on the water, with the estimated arrival date shown.
  2. Buy or reserve. Pay in full for a truck in Houston, or put down a $1,000 deposit on one in transit; the deposit counts toward the price and the balance is due within 14 days of our telling you it has landed.
  3. Get it home. Come with a trailer (kei trucks are about 11 ft long and 4 ft 10 in wide), or we help arrange a carrier and you pay the carrier directly.
  4. Title it. Each truck comes with its Japanese export certificate, bill of sale and U.S. import documents (CBP 7501, HS-7, EPA 3520-1). You apply for the title yourself; the pages above tell you where and what it costs.
